Long lifespan is gone!
« on: June 03, 2011, 07:07:36 AM »
Since I installed The Sims 3 Generations Pack, in stead of the long lifespan of sims I had I am bound to only 90 days. I know there are cheats like Ambrosia and that potion. That does not slow down the progress in the entire neighbourhood. So that is no use, if I want my sims children to play in the weekends (plural) with their friends.

I am very disappointed about this. I love the new content, but they took the joy out of the game bij shortening their life. I think 3 days as a toddler and 7 days as a child is not enough. I feel I cannot enjoy the content or explore everything with the entire neighbourhood in a much slower pace.

Actually you can  still have long lifespans I believe just drag all the sliders all the way to the right and that 90 should go up and up and up.

If I'm not mistaken you can get the same results as the original unified slider you just hve more control over how long each stage lasts.  I haven't tested this yet but it stands to reason.

If I'm right this is much better:
A) Want your babies to grow up in a day midieval style BOOM
B) want to enjoy childhood and teen hi jinks BOOM
c) Want your elders to linger on or knock off fast BOOM

Before you could achieve one direction or the other now you can customize, babies can last 1 day while children could last 50 who knows happy simming.

I've tried that. Unfortuantly everything is locked. I can't drag or change the lifespan. I've tried everything I could including delete all my former games and my own made town, but nothing happend. Somehow the lifespan slider is completely locked, including the seperate sliders of every age.

You're probably trying to change the aging options in the main menu. Try going to an active game and then into options, and the agespans should be editable.

One issue I had after the patch was that even though the slider was set to 'long', the actual values were 'normal' in active games - but they sorted themselves out when I moved the slider up and then back down.

I had to figure that one out too. You have to click aging on before you can use the sliders.

Does this mean that a sim older than 90 days will die instantly after installing this expansion? If so I'll be sure to safe after pauze the game and edit the options right away after installing!

I don't know.  I always play with aging off and when I turned it on all my Sims were in the lifespan I had left them at. You don't have the 90 day option any more. You have to set each age separately.

I don't think so. They'll only die if they are elders at the end of their life span.

The moment of their death is still up in the air whether they are 87 or 152.  The 90 day option is still there as when the game starts up you don't have to move a slider at all.  In fact, if you do any of the challenges for this forum, you can't mess with the sliders as it's against the rules.

There is a slider above all the individual sliders that lets you choose Short, Medium, Normal, Long, Epic.  It's just like it was before, located under Options and located on the Game Options tab.
