Fresh install launcher problems

Hi All,

I have a catostrophic computer failure three days ago and had to rebuild my laptop from scratch, I went through all the correct motions of spending a billions hours ensuring windows was fully updated before I re-installed, Base Game, Ambitions and finally Late Night.

Since then I have had no end of problems with my launcher, it hangs for an eternity when I am installing content of any kind. After it hangs it will be completely unresponsive until I finally get it to close and then re-open it. I have yet to actually start the game but I did get the latest update (the prelude to installing generations). My laptop is more than capable of running the game as it is a custom gaming machine.

Is this a problem that is unique to me? or the latest patch? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall everything from disk over again?

I hope that someone is able to help me.

Sometimes, the launcher is more of a pain than a help! The only time I use it is when updating my game. The rest of the time, I totally bypass it by using these instructions. Hopefully it helps!

I wanted to provide an update.

It turned out that I had a major conflict between virus software, firewall and browser. This was causing everything to hang and stopping the browser from recognising there was an internet connection.

For reference, avast in pretty much incompatiable with firefox, as is zone alarm and zone alarm and avast are incompatiable with each other. All of this is whilst running Vista only.

Secondly issue with the launcher can be solved if by chance people have not disabled their windows firewall while running another brand.

These simple fixes now have my game running better than it ever has, even in bridgeport the game is running smoothly.

I hope that this information also helps someone else that has been experiencing problems with their launcher.
