Sims keep freezing and disapearing
« on: June 06, 2011, 09:20:12 AM »
It all happens again since the installation of Generations. I've done reinstalling every single expansion by hand before I have set back my backup files and of course I did a disk cleanup and defragmentation after that.

1 But my sims keep freezing and disapearing and even resetsim wouldn't help.
I saw it happens often when my sim dive in his rabit hole. He jumps out immediatly and often freez or does nothing. When he does, I can not click away his actions and give him new ones.

2 A few of my sims can use the new camera by the way, but the one with the rabit hole can not.
3 Also inviting foreign visitors doesn't work anymore, as I can invite them when my sims came back from a foreign country but after that they won't apear.

I hope somebody knows how to handle this.

Freezing and disappearing

I have not had trouble with adults freezing or disappearing, but I have had trouble with babies and toddlers.  I had two babies become "objects."  My parents could not interact with them and the social worker took the baby away.  The same couple had another baby and the same thing happened.  I tried to reset, take mom and baby out of house and back again with no results.  I finally evicted the whole family to the library and moved them to another town.  That worked except the father was a level 9 in business and he never could get his co workers and boss to like him and therefore never got a raise.

I think these are program glitches.  I wonder if the problems should be posted on the Sims 3 board.  Does EA every read the forum?

Leto, have you tried saving the household and moving to a fresh new neighborhood?
(I say this a lot because most of the time it fixes the bugs and glitches for me)

Of course, before the bugged sim disappears.

I restarted my game and now saw this disapearing and freezing all starts around 9:00 am in the morning.
You could wonder why exactly at that time but the day before my sims had called foreign visitors to visit which they didn't. It may have to do something with that. I will restart my game and send all tims on vacation and will not invite visitors anymore. What a shame. I like visitors. :(

Oh yes, I did that. And I will never forget again I did!
It fixed this bug but gives me a fresh new one: inventory bug. Items won't stick to the ground or got frozen solid in either inventory, family inventory or treasure chests. That made me reusing a pre-backupped version of this game. Nothing what I did solved the inventory bug problem. And on the internet I saw this problem exist from the very beginning of the game.
I don't know if I'm aloud to say it, but having a bug in a game for nearly 2 years without fixing it... sometimes I find EA a bit lazy.

Freezing must be contagious. Few hours ago i went with the dad to china to buy martial art items and recipes, also bought photocamera. After that i started to train him abit and then i noticed the freezes , 4-5 seconds no movement or able to use the interface.
Ive had it a few times before i installed generations, but that was after alot of zooming in and out.

I returned him home and the freezing was gone yay. Then i noticed was that the martial arts stuff wasn't in my family inventory. Mkay , must be some glitch i guess.
Later i see the mom having a "get married" want and when on the phone with a friend having a "first kiss" want. Huh  ???
Now ive sent them to bed and i see the mom whining that there is someone in her bed. This cant be good. I check the friends tab and find to my horror that he has her marked as wife but she has him as friend on her list.  :o
Not sure if this is related to the freezing but everything was fine before he went to china.
I saved and restarted the game but still same thing. Guess ill have to restart with a pre-china save.  :(

Does she (the mother), treat him (the father), like a ghost? Does she have the Golddigger LTW? Does he know he's been divorced?  ;)

I get the same thing. It happened every time my sim sat down at the computer and when she went to read a book. I had to delete the entire town and just had her still in the bin. So she is starting over hopefully it won't happen again.
