Mummies and Fire
« on: January 17, 2010, 11:58:47 AM »
I made a mummy last weekend via the canopic jars method and she just caught on fire on my home lot in Sunset Valley. She did not die immediately. I extinguished her in like 20 minutes in the dive well.

There's another thread on here saying that Mummies are immune to fire traps? What's the Canopic Jars Method?

I have a lot of experience with mummies, and yes, they can't die from the fire of fire/electricity traps (at least not player-controlled ones).

From normal fires they can die of, and very easily so, but not instant per se. You get a couple of Sim minutes before they die, but very few of them (relatively to how slow normal sims die). So if you have a dive well next to them, then I can't see why you couldn't extinguish them.

Ah, I was under the impression that they were vaporized on the spot. Yeah, it was really lucky that I happened to have just placed a dive well RIGHT next to the fire pit. :)

There comes a countdown moodlet of some sort from fire traps, but that is similar to the moodlet you normally get (after which you get all black and burned). Mummies DON'T die when that moodlet has counted down, they don't even become burned (they may still faint as normal sims).

However, from a real fire they get a very short countdown moodlet at like 20 sim minutes. When that counts down, they die.

I have not tested this aspect exactly, but I have reason to believe that they can run away and put themselves out before it counts down, if a dive well is near. These countdowns are not the same and if we are to talk about when they actually die, we need to distinctly differ these (the moodlet pictures of them aren't even the same).

A normal Sim gets something like 45 Sim minutes. Singed Sims also get less time.

Trust me, I've had practice!  8)

OK then, it's possible that you get even less than 20 sim minutes with mummies. The point still is, you get a few valuable seconds which I have yet to test you could survive from. Maybe you just can't anyway?

Well I know for a fact that you can. My mummy is proof of that.

Was it from a fire trap or normal fire? From a fire trap he wouldn't have died anyway.

Fire pit. Like the fire pit you can get from buy mode. It's from vanilla Sims 3. My mummy lit the fire pit and caught on fire.
