Not Playing a Hero?

Is there any negative impact in not playing an existing Hero.

Being new to the game I placed all the buildings thinking it was a requirement, but I really do not like the Jacoban Priest or the way the character plays.

If I ignored Quests that used this character and just worked around him, would there be any negative impact in NOT playing one of the Hero's?

And/Or

Would it be better if I deleted the game and started over?  I am still playing the "New Beginnings" game, so it would not be a big loss if I started over.  And in some ways I think I would like to.

There would be no issue, apart from your Jacoban not Leveling up. And if you're not aiming for a kingdom full of Level 10 Heroes, it's not really a big issue.

Well, if you're still in New Beginnings, it is a requirement to build every building that you can.  That being said, there is absolutely no reason that you need to play as all of those heroes.  I myself usually limit quest-time to the wizard, the blacksmith, the bard, and the monarch.  I'm not a big fan of the knight or the spy, and I find both priests, the cleric, and the merchant to have obnoxious daily responsibilities.  Just because you've made the hero doesn't mean that you have to use them.  Keep an eye out for which quests require which hero.  Being a pre-made character isn't going to affect much, beyond whatever traits and flaws they were made with.

After playing the "Eastern Promises" quest with the Jacoban priest and having him poison people to get rid of the Apothecary so she wouldn't reveal the fact that he tried to bribe her. I resolved never to build another Jacoban cathedral unless absolutely required.  So far no problems except for not being able to annex Yacothia I haven't had any problems.

However, Watch out for the Ambitions that require "10 heroes at",  level 10 or have 10000 Gold  You won't be able to get to platinum for that ambition.  When I must build a cathedral I hardly ever use the Jacoban for a quest.
