Sim Relationship Quirk
« on: January 13, 2010, 02:05:34 PM »
Something I noticed playing the guitar for hours on end in front of the theater.

Here's the situation:  Take Two Sims, who are "friends" of my Sim solely based on attending said sidewalk concerts. My Sim has never spoken a word to either one. Those two Sims get into a tiff while attending a tip making session. They end up giving negatives to each other. On many occasions that negative will pop onto my Sim as well. Sometimes it is enough to cause one or both of the other Sims to drop out of the friendship range of my Sim.

Bang! My sim now has a Lost Friend moodlet, sometimes a Betrayed moodlet. And like I said my Sim has never spoken a word to either of the other two, much less made any romantic interludes with them.

I finally grew weary of the negative moodlets happening just about every session and had my Sim pick up Stone Hearted. (Anyone else notice that Beau Andrews is a walking fight waiting to happen? LoL) Now I don't get the moodlets, but my Sim will still stop playing and want to march over and tell one of them he is upset.

I guess there's not much to do about it. It just gets irksome when one is focused on getting to a goal.Besides its the small dramas is what makes the little darlings so endearing.  :D

Ha ha. Yeah, guitar players and relationships. I could write a friggin' book on the bizarre quirks.

Here's one, Dave. Give your guitar player the Attractive reward. I often have characters just sleeping in a bed with no house. You can literally make a friend with that reward by having someone jog by the house or even drive by. I don't know if the effect carries through walls.

The first time it happened I couldn't believe it. I saw the message — "Your Sim just made a new friend." I'm like..."What the...?!" He's sleeping. I don't remember reading that in Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People.

LOL!!! Metro that's hilarious to me for some reason. Must be some sim you got there!  ;)

As I was reading the posts here 2 different things popped in my head - 1) My sim randomly got beat up by another sim (Last name Frio). Talk about a walking fight! But it wasn't like the guy disliked my sim at all, they were actually friends! and the relationship didn't suffer from the impromptu beating. It was really strange.  ??? Has that happened to anyone else.

2) As I was picturing Metro's sleeping sim and then some random sim running by it reminded me of when one of my sims shoo'd away a peeping tom on her lot. Has that happened to anyone else?

The Shooing action drives me insane because it doesn't work. Mailmen, joggers, the newspaper kids — they'll all stumble on my Sims when they're trying to use the toilet or take a shower and it's just an open natural design (one wall for the toilet). The offending party always just stands there and blurts out their simlish with the pathfinding bubble above their head. It's truly maddening because it seems I have to cancel the action that was interrupted to send Bluto on his merry way.

Wow, your number one thing is wierd! In my legacy, I had my founder marry Connor Frio and she'd often go over to their house since mine was a piece of crap, but a fight never happened. Was it Connor or Jared, or one of their descendants?

Gotta be Jared. I just checked the Prima Guide and Jared's got the Mean-Spirited trait.

I never try to shoo them, I thought it would make them mad. But if you want to get them to leave you can ask them to leave, or enter build mode and build walls around them without any doors or windows so you can act as if they are not there.

Yeah, it was Jared!! That jerk!  >:( I still don't interact with him on any of my sims. This thread reminded of something to write in a different thread though.... so before I go mean-spirited or not it's pretty messed up to just randomly jump someone; I think that falls more in line with EVIL!!

I know a lot of people don't like Jared, but the first game I ever played my Sim seemed to like him and so she actually rolled a want to marry him...she didn't know all his traits and he seemed pretty well behaved when he would stay for a sleepover.  So she got engaged and married to him and I found out he was mean spirited...Gah!  He was only mean to her a few times...haa haa, but I decided to give him a lobotomy  :o (trait changer thing) and they were fine after that.

In some of my other games Jared is mean to people in town, but doesn't pick a fight...however there are a couple of new females in town that when they see Jared, they go kick his butt...he usually loses the fight to them, cracks me up!  :D

OMG, yes this happened in my first game to the Sim that married Jared, she was still on her own at the time this happend.  She was bathing and the mailman delivered the mail then ran over to the side of the house so I took the walls down to see what he was doing and he was standing on the other side of the bathroom wall starting at my Sim in the tub!  :o  I was like OMG a Peeping Tom!  My Sim got out of the tub (great give him an eyeful   :o ) autonomously and I hovered over the action she was going to do and it said "Shoo Peeper" !  I just LOL, the only window in the bathroom was the small rectangular one that sits up high, but I guess Peeper's must have x-ray eyes!  :o :D
