Spar with someone

I'm a monarch trying to spar with someone to complete my quest.  I've befriended people with swords, practiced on the dummies, restarted the game, and I never have the spar interaction.

How can I spar with someone to finish this quest?  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, kmusic.  The Spar interaction is under "Monarch".  If the sim you're trying to spar with is capable of sparring, that's where you'll find the interaction.

Assuming that someone does all that, do the spar and duel options disappear if you don't have a sword in your inventory? Or does the game create one, like when you first start King Paddle? I've never had an issue with my hero specific actions not showing up personally, but I just wondered.

Edit: I don't think you can actually sell an equipped item, and the only way I can see to unequip an item is to equip something else, hence no chance for a fighting sim to be without a sword.

I have never tried it without a sword.  The ones who can spar, come equipped with basic weapons anyway.  I am guessing if you got rid of one and didn't replace it, you would not be able to spar.
I have to admit, the free paddles surprised me the first time I saw them.  I read somewhere that this has discontinued under patch 1.3 so I will be watching out for that in my next ambition.

Are you doing 'The Witch is Back' by any chance?

Sims can't fight while pregnant. TWiB is poorly designed because it asks you to WooHoo and then fight. All of my female Monarchs have had to wait until they've given birth before they can continue the quest chain.

Other than that, make sure the person you want to Spar with is a valid target (which a quest npc should be).
