Problem shutting the game
« on: April 13, 2011, 01:57:13 PM »
In my latest save file when I enter it I get about five minutes play time. Then halfway through the game just closes. Its like I'm playing, then i'm looking at whatever I was doing behind it. Any ideas?

Sounds like you may have to re-install the game. Are you using any mods? (Just a yes or no as the names and links to mods are not allowed on this forum.) If you are then that may be causing the issue. Also corrupted or badly desinged third party cc can also cause the problem you are experiencing.

Does/did this occur in any other save files?
How often did this happen? Once or twice? Or every time?

Found the problem! Like Pam they lived in a huge house, not the size of Pam's but I don't have a great computer. Shaved off the ends and now it's fine.

Edit: Now it's just freezing instead of closing

Is it in Riverview or Barnacle Bay?

If it's in either of these, bloated world cache files could be the issue.  My game used to freeze a lot in these towns, and deleting the cache files always seemed to fix it.  You'll find them in Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/WorldCaches.  Just delete everything inside that folder.

Even if it's not, try deleting the 4 cache files in your Sims folder and see if that helps before you try anything drastic (if you haven't already done so).

It happened to be a CAW world. The worldcaches together were about 22 thousand kg. Is that a lot? I'm going to try them again now.

Edit: Stopped stuttering like it used to but it closed again. it's just this savefile though and it always happens on ultra or triple speed. I think I'll just delete the world and save file.

22,000 KB?
That's about 18 MB, if my math is correct. It's not that much. The Sims takes around 3GB, which is 3624MB (again if my math is correct).
