Custom Music Questions
« on: April 25, 2011, 09:58:20 AM »
Hi all. Recently, I added a song with 320 kbps bitrate into the Custom Music folder found in C:Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. When I tried to play the song on the Custom Music station (I deleted all other Custom Music so it was the only song left), but it didn't play. There was silence. I realized that it had something to do with the file itself, not the game, since other songs played normally. With another program, I changed the song's bitrate to 190 kbps, and next time I tried to play it in-game, it worked. I just wonder, what is the maximum and minimum Custom Music bitrate allowed in-game, so that the station can play it? Another question: do any other factors influence a song's playability in-game? Length or file size, maybe?

I've never been able to get custom music to work in my games.  Perhaps this is why.  Something for me to investigate...

This got me thinking: some of my old custom music added last year was 128 kbps. That new song was more than double of it initially. Those old songs still played yesterday, while the new one didn't. That's why I'm thinking it's the bitrate.

TheChronicR, Sorry I can't answer your question but Thank You for answering one I had been wondering about. :)
I'd wondered why some times the radio went silent but I could skip to the next song and it played fine. I figured it was something to do with the file but I didn't know what.
