What World Should I Buy?
« on: June 29, 2012, 02:08:28 PM »
So I have never purchased anything from the Sims 3 Store before, but today I just decided to go for it. There is way too much stuff on there to get everything I'd like, so to avoid totally bankrupting myself I'm going to have to choose wisely. I would really like to get a new world, and I'm trying to decide between three right now...
1) Hidden Springs - 2000 points on sale
2) Lunar Lakes - 2450 points
3) Lucky Palms (standard version) - 2100 points on sale

Does anyone have suggestions or advice on which new world is the most fun to play on?  Right now I am leaning away from Lunar Lakes because it costs the most, but might consider purchasing the Tree of Prosperity separately if it was really worth it.

Also if anyone knows of any great collections that are worth it I'm looking at new furnishings as well!

I would say Hidden Springs at the bottom of the list really. It has more issues than it does benefits really. It's a beautiful town but I think it has issues which causes bigger issues. Lucky Palms is just plain gorgeous though, although you might need a pretty good machine for it as you'll need Highest Fog Distance to enjoy the whole world properly, I've not played much of it but what I have it's amazing! I don't have Lunar Lakes though so I can't judge but from what I hear people do like it.  :)

Thanks Sam! I decided to start with Lucky Palms and so far I love it. The sunsets are really nice and the way to town is laid out is fun to play.

I agree with samoht04 about Hidden Springs being at the bottom of the list. I haven't been able to play in that town without one glitch after another since I bought it. Much more trouble than it's worth!

As far as collections go some of my favorite are: the Technophobe No More set that has very modern Gothic type pieces. Lots of black and white with really dramatic lines to everything (not to mention the MultiTab which is the most useful Sim object ever), the New Year, New Kitchen! set is nice with the combination of Steampunk and Edwardian kitchen items. I get a lot of use out of the Steampunk set for more modern homes and love the Edwardian for classic homes, and Club Vaindeburger Study + Den gets a lot of use in my game too. I like the Haute Hacienda kitchen a lot but I've had trouble with the island counters changing color when I place them together so I haven't use the whole set as often.

And looking at the list of sets I'm beginning to realize my Sims are spoiled! :D

I don't have any of those, but have been reading reviews around the internet.

I read from somewhere, that the route map in Hidden Springs has some holes in it, which leads to glitching etc. as sims get stuck and leads to lag etc. I considered buying Hidden Springs as it seems to be a beautiful town, but I guess it is broken and I don't want to pay for anything that is not functioning to begin with.

Lunar Lakes had some create reviews and I haven't heard about any glitches related to it, but as I'm not into scifi, I haven't gotten it. I hear it's really good for an EA made town though. :)

Hahaha you definitely have spoiled Sims - they are lucky! Well I was looking at the Technophobe No More actually, but I was also considering the set that has the new kitchen items: deep fryer and the ice cream maker, they look really fun - although I don't like the kitchen counters and decor... so I may just by the appliances separately. I was also looking at the Edwardian too so we must have similar tastes. Thanks for the tips I'll have to check them out again :)

If you don't have many sets to start with and don't have your heart set on buying the newest ones, check the Daily Deal in the Sims 3 Store.  They put something on sale every day, sometimes every hour on special occasions.  It's usually sets or items that are a little older, but you can get some pretty good deals on them.
