« on: November 20, 2010, 05:38:35 AM »
Ok guys I need some help. I recently got sims 3 for xbox 360 and have been really enjoying it. I started the game with 3 sims and one of them got married later on, but my guys wife wont move in and I cant use her as my sim! :o now my sister plays sims 3 on mac and says that you should be able to control them, and I cant figure out how :[ is it because I already have three sims or something? Should I be able to use my wife as my sim? And I don't want to kick out any off my other sims because they have really good paying jobs and the guy who got married doesn't have one at all! :( help please?

Is there an 'Edit Town' feature in the corresponding "..." menu (they've had that menu in all Sims games so far so I guess you have it on console)? In that case you should be able to evict and then move the wife in with you.
Remember to save before should anything go wrong of course.

And yes, normally the wife would move in with you automatically, but something weird must have happened. Welcome to the forum! :)

I think it's a bug on the XBox.  I married someone at a location wedding, and he didn't move in, either.  I'm not sure, yet, if it's that I left the party too early, or if location weddings don't work.  It was at the Art Gallery, and my spouse-sim tried to leave before it was over, due to tiredness.

I've had private ceremonies work fine, and go straight to the move-in, but that's the first wedding party, and first problem, I've had.

Don't know about the Xbox but because you can only have one family per save file on the PS3, there is no edit town button.

Just happened to me on the PS3 a few minutes ago. Party finished at midnight. When I tried to invite her over she said it was to late. I've got her to the place where it would normally be best friend. On a different save file I had an option to move a best friend in. I'll try it again soon.

Edit: No, you can only do it with actual best friends.

So is the only way to get your spouse to move in is to do a private ceremony? My sim wanted to have a "Party Wedding" so I threw one at her house. Her husband didn't move in after the ceremony. I'm really disappointed that he didn't move in.

Also, the "try for Baby" option isn't showing up for them. It showed up for another sim I dated previously, but not for her husband? Could it be because he is one of the maids? He is Paul Hernandez.

Try for baby: I had the Try for Baby option with a repairman, so it's probably just the level of the relationship.  The bar needs to be pretty much all the way up for the option to show up.

The mood has to be "extremely alluring" or one of them has to be on the bed and invite the other one over.

Easy way to "Try for Baby": Just get mom and dad relaxing together on the bed and the option always pops up regardless of moods.

As for moving in, I'm not sure at all about this, but when i got married, I realized the person I was marrying(my game is in french, not sure of her name in english) actually had 2 teenagers  ::)  She didn't move in the night of our wedding, so I decided to try and upgrade my house, which only had 1 bedroom, and built a second floor with two more rooms. After i went back from work, i called her over, and after talking with her a few time, the option to have her move in(with her two sons) appeared. So maybe this has to do with having enough living space if the person has children?

I just made a blog post about this exact problem:
http://222am.blogspot.com/2011/05/how-to-make-your-wife-or-husband-move.html

I don't think it is a serious bug, I was able to get him to move in by doing the steps I wrote on my blog. :) Hope this is helpful. Let me know if it worked for you.

Most likely if a Sim won't move in it is because they have children that you didn't move with you. When you get the option box to select members to move in hit "X" to toggle and you will select that Sim's household and then you must move all children in with the new "wife".

An easy way to "try for baby" even with a total stranger is to use the "Get Lucky" karma power and start using romantic topics and you will notice you go from stranger/acquaintance to romantic interest in one topic and then you will get the try for baby option usually on the 2nd go. I was able to pull off triplets with the policeman this way with very little talking. I went from Flirt to Try for Baby to having triplets. =)
