New Sims Going on Adventure
« on: January 09, 2010, 05:37:04 AM »
Hey all.

Since the adventure expansion came, I have played Sims a lot. And now I am beginning to run out of places to explore. So, I thought if I now make a little new born kid, would it be possible to take only him to France for instance and the game would "restart" because it's a new Sim. Or will the game still remember that I have gone there and explored it all?

Well to answer my own question: I tried to do it with my wife in the game, because I thought that must be the same. But, no, darn it. All tombs in France have "still" been explored.

So for my real question. When you explore a tomb do we only get to do it once in the whole game? Even if we take a new sims to the destination? It was only the wife who went there and not my "main" Sim I started with. But still, if we only have the adventures, or at least the bigger "explore a tomb" one, once, then the "adventure game" of Sims will be boring for me quick because I really can't do that much more there. And I would love to explore them all again. I can't remember half the tombs in France any more, so it could nearly be new to me again when I am done in China. But if not, then that's a bummer. :-\

So any help on this? Can we "restart" the adventure part in Sims 3?

The only way I know of to "reset" the tombs is to begin another game, and start over on a totally new town. Some of the relics will be spawned again though without you having to do anything, but the big ones like Pangu's axe is a one-time deal and that fog will not come again.

Theoretically, if you have a lot of time, you can enable testingcheatsenabled, go into Edit Town, and for all tombs shift-control-click on all those tomb-spheres and tell them to put up the fog again. Although that would make you see how the tomb looks like all over again, so that may not be preferable nor fun.

Well, that's really sad because then I am nearly back to the normal Sims game again. And, well, not that much to do after big play time.

And I don't want to start over on a whole new game. I like to have a big family tree from when I started out with my first Sim. :-)
Well, I can make a bunch of babyies and overflow my Sunset Valley with my family. :-D ::)

Yeah I was a little disappointed in that too. The only way to have the tombs unexplored is to play a different sim that's not in your family. If you have 5 sims all in the same family, the tomb will show as explored after the first one goes in there and even if the other 4 go in, it will be "used up."

Or like Swede said....you can cheat and reset all the tombs.

That's a bummer. Oh well, if we know EA, they will surely come out with something new to Sims 3 again.  :-)

Seekhunt,

There are other things to do in the countries, if you're interested.  Do you have your Visa all the way to level 3?  You can purchase a vacation home then, which is nice.  You could try collecting all the new gems and metals that are in the new countries.  And if all this fails, that's why we have challenges to give us something new to do until the next expansion comes out!  :D

Hehe. Well, I nearly have done all that, actually. :P

But now I have a baby to take care of and when he is old enough, I think he's going in his father's footsteps.
After reading Carl's Guide yesterday again, I remembered that I might also could look for the small excavation sites. Or try to get some of those "photo-group-picture-sets." There's one where you need to have the "best of the best" or what's it called, where you need to (I think) take a picture of one, there's the best in all jobs. Or close to. So yeah, ok, ok. I have still something to do. :-D

Well, good!  I'm glad you still have things to do!  :)

Don't forget about our tournaments and challenges, too.  I just finished the Perfectly Happy Challenge and enjoyed it very much.
