Tutoring Teens With Maxed Logic Skill
« on: June 24, 2011, 05:42:59 PM »
I have two teens currently in the family and would like to tutor them in school work.  Both of them just aged up to teen, so they still have Cs.  I noticed that tutor is an available option under friendly for one of them, but not the other.  The one that it is not available for has the logic skill maxed.  I also noticed that tutoring a child or teen raises logic skill while raising school performance, so I was wondering whether the maxed logic skill is preventing the teen from being tutored.  Does anyone know whether a teen with maxed logic can still be tutored?

Well since the purpose of tutoring the teen in a certain skill is to raise that skill, since that teen has already maxed logic that is the reason why they can't be tutored.

I am talking about tutoring to raise their grades. I'm not skill tutoring.

Oops sorry didn't see that. :-[ Not sure why the option wouldn't be there, but maybe it is because she's maxed logic.

I restarted my game and went back in, and now neither teen can be tutored!  I wonder why.  I don't think they have to have homework in their inventories or anything because I was able to tutor the children in the house before they ever went to school.

Edit:  I just found the interaction for both teens under special ->family-oriented :)

That's kind of odd...it should be in both places.  Grouping them like that is supposed to make them easier to find.  It's either a bug, or EA changed how that works.

I've had a hard to find some options too. I second ClayMask on the fact that children and teen can be tutored without homework in inventory, and that you can always find the option under the family oriented special menu when/if it doesn't show up under friendly.

This was already like that for me prior the last patch and Generations. I've found that, ever since I installed them, it's somehow getting worse or more confusing at least. Not specifically for the tutor one, but also other interactions. I've had a very hard time finding "ask for campaign donation" and "ask to form/join band". And just "get to know" is not always there for acquaintances... when Sims can now share secrets with complete strangers!

My (very woolly) theory so far: when 2 Sims have a friendly conversation, you can see what the other thinks of your active Sim under their icon on the top left. It changes from Sims x is ok, to sociable and then friendly, when everything goes right. I've been under the impression that some interactions require Sims to be on a higher level (sociable or friendly vs ok) than before. So that now, they must have a whole conversation before thay can ask things that were common before.

I also feel that the last EP/patch has brought in all kind of side tweaks and small changes, but none of those have been explained nor documented be EA so far. And some might need a bit more fine tuning for the next patch ;D But the whole system now seems a bit more interesting or intricated now.
