Is There A Way To Add More Ram On A Video Card?
« on: March 31, 2011, 03:14:50 PM »
I can't play The Sims Medieval because I have 128 MB of memory on my video card. I was wondering if there's a way to put more memory on the video card so I can play it. I do have a laptop, but I've heard I can, just want to make sure because i really wanna play The Sims Medieval. ;D

Unfortunately, there is no way to upgrade the RAM on a video card that I have ever heard of.

This is a quote from the PCWorld website (this PCWorld is a computer magazine website):

Quote
Who doesn't want better graphics quality from their notebook PC? You can get there by doing it yourself. But be warned: If the upgrade is possible at all for your laptop, it can be a time-consuming operation that involves disassembling virtually your entire notebook, so don't enter into this process unless you are willing to accept the risk of doing serious harm to your machine. That said, if done properly, this project can give you noticeably higher frame rates in the end.

My advice would be to go along to your local computer shop (or one of the bigger stores that also sell and fit video cards) and ask their advice and how much it would cost to have them fit the card for you and ask if they will guarantee that your laptop will still work after the new card has been fitted.  I've no idea what the cost would be but it could possibly be a solution.

I doubt any place that works on computers would even touch it if they couldn't reasonably guarantee that it would work afterward.  I'm not sure exactly how the law reads, but I'd be willing to bet that any agreement to work on something would implicitly imply that whatever is worked on will work at least as well (if not better) after the work was done.

Better buy a new computer if you can. Don't risk your current. Trust me, I know what I'm saying, I've lost a bunch of stored info because of OS problems, and therefore - reinstalls.
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa
