Uncleanable birthday cake?

I've searched and searched and can't find anything related to this issue.  This has actually happened on more than one lot.  Days after the birthday celebration is over, my sims get a "dirty" moodlet, a birthday cake pops up in their brain, and then the unroutable stomping ensues.  I can't ever seem to find these cakes.  I've searched in toy boxes, under the house, stairs, etc.  Anyone have a clue?  Thanks.

Have you looked in their personal inventory?  I know that is a dumb question and I only ask because, it has happened to me before.  Since you can pick up the cake and move it around, maybe it just ended up in there by accident.  Also, if you have a neat sim, click on the floor and have them "clean house".

My only advice would be to search every surface and floor space, party guests in my games tend to put their cake/plate down anywhere they find is convenient. If you've accidentally left the moveObjects cheat on, the plates may be found under furniture, counters, appliances, plants, etc., and in the foundation space.

I've never had this with birthday cakes, but it once happened to me with a pizza.  I couldn't find the thing anywhere, but the sims kept complaining about dirty surroundings.  Finally I got a Neat sim to "clean house" and she found the pizza and disposed of it, even though it was invisible to me.  If you've got a Neat sim around, it's worth a try.  Good luck, mammabec.

I've had things get stuck in walls and my Sim couldn't get to it.  You have to look very carefully to find it and sometimes your Sim is stomping very close to the location.  You'll have to go into Buy Mode to grab it, move it out in the open, then delete it.

This happened to me - I think I fixed it too!

Do you remember what surface the cake was sitting on? Counter, Table, Etc..?

In my game, I deleted the piece of counter that the cake was on and then replaced it and this didn't happen again.

Hope this helps - dang Sims are a bunch of toddlers sometimes, throwing crazy unclean-able cake tantrums!

This happened to me, too - and I could tell approximately where it was, by where my sims got the "stinky food" moodlet, but there was nothing there! What I ended up doing:

1) Use two sims to identify the boundaries of the "stinky zone". Mark it with the zero-simoleon floor tiles.
2) Move all the landscaping well out of the way.
3) In Build mode, click and drag the sledgehammer so that the rectangle covered the whole marked area.

Something that was sledgehammered gave me back 18 simoleons, and the stinky cake was gone. Never did find the actual cake, and I have no idea what I got the refund for.

Ok, the sledgehammer of doom swiped across an empty area of the yard, did indeed give me the  $18 simoleons, and no more cranky faces.  Thanks guys.
