Armor and Weapons
« on: March 29, 2011, 12:16:06 PM »
How do you tell what's better?  I know this seems stupid but I have two swords.  One is strength 6 and weight 3 and the other one the strength and weight are both 6.  So which one is better?  Same for armor.  Is bigger or lesser number the way to go?

Well, this might need some experimenting but from my observation so far:

Less weight = faster swings and less stamina loss
Higher Power = more damage per hit type

Dunno offhand, though, if a 6/4 would be better than, say, a 3/1.

I bet Carl is the type to spend a weekend just testing these stats. :)

I agree with HfFde.  The less weight, the less your sim is going to be spending energy on just standing, carrying that extra weight.  So if you've got one that weighs 3 less but does just as much damage, go with that one.

I look at the power or defense number first and try to get the highest number available, assuming that the higher this number the better the weapon or armor will do its job.  I have been using the weight number as a secondary consideration with the assumption that a lower number for weight is better (intiutively it seems that your hero will be able to fight/hunt/duel longer before getting fatigued if his/her gear is lighter weight).

Thanks everyone.  I'm fighting one of the nastiest cases of the flu ever and some things that my brain took for granted I knew last friday - i'm questioning today.   That or it's the fact that I'm on the 6th version of this quest today and I got something that threw me for a loop.

I'm trying to figure out how to do the knight's LT quest correctly to get the LT.  It's much harder than the smith/wizard/fountain quest by far as the four or five other times I've done this quest this is the first time (as in this morning before I started the spree) that it said Legendary Trait possible.

My impression is that my knight fatigued more slowly but was injured more often and more severely when equipping chainmail than when he equipped plate. For me the injuries lowered focus more and for a longer time than the fatigued state.

One more thing. Unless combat is probable, I have my knight equip but not wear his plate armor.

I was able to get a legendary trait for my knight but my brain is a bit fried and I don't recall the quest that I did - it wasn't the fountain one and I did the seven arts one on my smith.  If you have a specific thing that is holding you up you can PM me (or post it if you're not worried about spoilers) and maybe it will job my memory.  I do remember that I had no problems and that there didn't seem to be a choice (that I found at least) that would lead to not getting the LT.
