Giving Paintings and/or Photos as Gifts?
« on: March 28, 2011, 02:44:21 AM »
I was wondering if Sims 3 sim people were able to give their paintings/photos as gifts to other sims? (I think I remember Sims 2 sim people being able to give paintings as gifts??) For example, I've got a cute photo of Mortimer and Cornella. I would love it if my sim person could give it to them as a gift.

I am not aware of a gift-giving ability in the sims 3. I would like that option very much, as I enjoyed using it in sims 2, but I am pretty sure they haven't added it to TS3 yet.

There's no way to give gifts as far as I'm aware either, and like Pallyndrome, it was a very neat aspect from the Sims 2 that I think should be added to 3.  While I might be wrong, I seem to remember that the ability to give gifts was also made available in Sims 1 by one of the later expansions...although there weren't many options on what to give.

Edit:  If you really feel compelled to have your sims give paintings/photographs as gifts to their friends, you could just go over to their house and try to hang the paintings on the wall!

In sims 2 you could give anything in your inventory. That was great. Especially for moving items between families. I could really use that in my Barnacle Bay.

Trying to go over to the friend's house and hand the photo on the wall didn't work. I had Sam go over to the Goth's house, took the photo from his inventory to hang on the wall and it gave me a red O with a line through it. *Sigh* That's a bummer!! I was hoping I could do that.

I have had both Sam and Jasmine take a lot of personal photos like that in hopes I'd be able to either give them as gifts or hang on the sim peoples walls.

I remember the gift-giving ability in Sims 1.  Used to use that ablity alot in the 1st and 2nd games.

Thanks for your help, :)

I loved the giving ability in Sims 2, but unfortunately there's not one in 3. You could move Mortimer in, put the photo in his inventory, and then move him out.

Is it possible to do testingcheatesenabled true then shift click on the other Sims home and select build on this lot.  When in their home is it possible to hang then?  I haven't tried this so I am not sure your able to take it from your inventory or not.

You can do build/buy anywhere with testing cheats, but how do you access your Sim's personal inventory (where the painting/photo is) from build or buy mode?

Hang the picture in your own home, enter build mode there, move it from the wall to Family Inventory, then pull it out from there when building on the other lot.
