Adding new things in museum may be tricky cause you'll again have to change lot type in residential, move your Sim in and place what you want, but it is still doable.

Thanks for all the tips Anushka. I kinda knew about that, but also read that by changing the museum to a residential lot, would automatically delete some of the objects in there, some of the collectibles. And it definitely is a lot of trouble having to sell my put-together house, and than coming back... And than back and forth again. Your ideas for collectibles are great, but I really want those things in the museum.
Well, it's good to know that there is this last resort. I'll continue my quest for a mod on this issue though.

The time machine, however, goes straight into your family inventory when completed.  The real question is:  if you use an on-site inventor's work bench, does it go into family inventory for your home, or for that lot?  Because there is one for the lot...at least there appears to be.

What happened to me more than once is the time machine going straight to the "home" family inventory, which is the only one that exists really... Nothing ever appears at the supposed "community" inventory.

Oh, so you've actually tried that already.  Oh well, that's good to know anyways, because it was something I've always wondered about.

I'm sorry that there is no easy solution for this, and it is strange that there is some sort of family inventory - comunity family inventory- when building on lots Sims own, but it is empty, not showing objects Sims actually have there. I remember trying to do that when I was upgrading properties, and I couldn't, only personal inventory worked (photos and paintings).

Such a shame that this isn't a possibility. I was planning to build my Dynasty museum on a lot other than the family's, since I'd hate to "stuff it in the basement". I guess I can forget that now if I want to include sculptures (unless I always create them on the lot which sounds like a real drag). Definitely something I'd like to see EA change (*snort* - as if). It would seem more than logical that you can use items from your family inventory on a lot that you own yourself.
