Where are all these Books Coming From?

In one of my save games, I constantly switch between six different active households. Once after I changed the active household, I found this in one of their inventories, which used to be empty.



I wasn't aware children could time travel at all.
I've had this happen a lot, with books from the past, future, as well as foreign locations.
Any idea why?

I don't think that's a time travel book - it's in the Sunset Valley library in the kids section.
However, I can't explain how your child got it, sorry.

Could you have purchased it from the consignment store when you went and purchased something else?

I'm sure I didn't buy it from the consignment shop, I almost never go there.

Your child might have gotten it from the library.  I've had several times with the library books end up in my inventory.

This happens just about every time you change to a new active household.  The sims all have books and cars.  I just sell them and use the money to buy better furniture.  Sometimes they even have laptops.  I guess it's because they need something to pull out and read when they're just standing around at different venues, and something to drive so that you don't just see taxis every where.

Yes I often find my sims I just started playing with 1 or 2 books, and a car or 2. One time I even found all 3 adult-or-older sims with at least 20 expensive cars in each of their inventories. So I decided that would be a rich family

I think that Bailey (yes, I remember Bailey.) Probably went to the library, then put the book down, picked it up, and put in in her inventory. It goes something like that.
That happened in Riches Galore (Schipperke's story).

BTW, Mars real Estate Do's and Don't's is worth about §1000 (?). Sell it, and forget the whole thing happened.

The 20 car inventories should have been fixed a couple patches ago.  I think the issue was that sims would drive somewhere, the destination would have no free parking spaces, the car would go into the sim's inventory, then the game would give them a new car to drive home with.  Rinse and repeat.
