Be Careful blowing up scrap piles.
« on: July 20, 2011, 05:24:55 PM »
It's been awhile since I have done any inventing but today I decided to work on it some. I sent my sim to the junkyard and blow up the scrap piles for some scrap.

I selected a pile and set the bomb. When it blew, it blew up everything in the junkyard. All 3 scrap piles, the items in the yard, the desk and chair in the office and the truck that's always in the parking lot. And my sims got burned in the explosion. Hard to hide when the whole yard blows up.

But I collected a lot of scrap from that one bomb. :)

I've tried it a few times and it's always the same. One bomb takes out the whole junkyard so be careful when blowing up the scrap piles. The bombs are more more powerful.

One time my sim didn't get burned was when after planting the bomb he ran out to the parking lot and the truck hadn't spawned back so there was nothing in the parking lot to blowup.

There's a warning on the loading screen saying that blowing up/denoting should only be left to the lucky Sims and the Sims with high enough inventing skills. Next time you want to do this without sacrificing your Sim, make sure your Sim is either a Daredevil (they can easily put themselves out on fire), lucky, or unlucky (because they will be spared), or has a high enough inventing skill.  ;)

Yeah, But what I was really getting at was that before if I planted 1 bomb it only blew up that 1 scrap pile. Now if I plant 1 bomb it's blowing up the whole junk yard.

I think that tip/hint/warning was only referring to avoiding fines for the destruction of public property, which you can`t get in the junkyard.

Ooops. Sorry. I always get those two things confused, between denoting items, and junkyard piles. I thought that it was all one thing. My bad.

You can blow up whatever you want in the junkyard! ;) Except trees, not too sure they blow up. :(

Sometimes you'll blow up one scrap pile, and other times you blow the whole lot to kingdom come.  My inventor sims live about half of their lives while having the "Singed" moodlet.  Sometimes the bomb won't go off and your sim will walk back over to it to see what's wrong with it.

No, they're not the brightest crayons in the box.
