Unknown parents
« on: March 10, 2011, 01:03:08 PM »
I'm playing a legacy now, and my current heir has four sisters who live in town.  Two of those sisters have children of their own.  One clearly shows that she married Connor Frio and had a son, but the other has a daughter with no partner and no father shows for that child in the family tree.  My sim is good/best friends with his sisters, and they often talk.  In fact, he is friends with the child in question, but he still doesn't know who the father is.  Is there anyway for me to find that out...short of changing the active family?
Thanks.

I don't really think there's a way to do it without changing active household. You could change the active household and look at the sister's relationship panel and see if she has any romantic interests. Maybe that one is the child's father.

This happens when Sims without partners adopt a child, the child only has the one parent.

Yes, but can Sims adopt children without player's command?

In one game, I had three or four townie Sims (a couple were male), each living by themselves, have nooboos mysteriously appear. I wasn't controlling them so if it wasn't adoption, I'd like to know where the nooboos came from. Especially the ones the males had. It was SV, I should look and see if I still have that game file, chances aren't good though, I tend to delete games I haven't played in months.

Once again, the mystery of Story Progression. There's just no explanation, because Sims can only adopt by manually clicking the cell phone, choosing the option Services, then, again, manually selecting the option to Adopt. Then choosing th kid, etc, etc. I guess, Story Progression does all this, but chooses the child randomly. That's at least how I understand it. :) Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I just found my game in question. There are about 6 Sims with only one parent. The Keaton boy has a son without a mother, as one example. The interesting thing is when townie Sims "adopt" (or whatever happens) the child looks like them, super interesting. I would agree with ChronicR, this looks like a function of story progression that randomly picks a single Sim (meaning: not in a relationship) to become a parent.

Wow, that's quite interesting. I like the way genetics work in this game.
