Built in Speakers??

I heard somewhere that your Sim could upgrade a stereo to have in-wall speakers. Is this true, or can anything of this sort be done?

If you have a high enough handiness skill, yes, you can wire your house with speakers.  You can read the small tidbit about it here that is on the guide.  It says you have to have a level 8 handy skill.

The drawback to this upgrade is that you can't have the stereo on while they are sleeping because it wakes them up.  Personally, I want it on, so I don't do this upgrade unless I need it for one of the journal challenges.  Then I switch it back to a different upgrade.

I love the whole house speakers, but there again, if you have gnomes and you know they like their music, the sims will be woke up a few times a week when the little guys turn the stereo on.  I do like the music all over the house though. :)

I do like the whole house speaker upgrade.  I just wish there was a way to make sure it doesn't get turned on at night.

And it's not only gnomes, it's ghosts and music crazed sims who are maniacally compelled to turn on every last stereo and radio in the house any time they're in a vertical position...and all to completely different stations.  That can be quite a racket, let me tell you.  Stereos in houses now fall under Highlander rules for me:  There can be only one!

If you don't mind wasting a trait slot: if your Sim has the Heavy Sleeper trait, (s)he won't be awaken by the stereo. I guess this is the only benefit of that trait.

That's not the only benefit!  You can sleep at work as well.  But that's rather off-topic, lol.

Lol, I forgot that one, sorry ;D I guess I'll explore that trait more, since my 2nd gen of Dynasty is born Heavy Sleeper. Ok, this is way off topic :)
