Your performance bar has to go all the way down. Don't do jobs, don't raise skills. Just don't go to work at all. Oh and also, sims in professions don't really have bosses, just wanted to clear that up. I have had my sims demoted, but I had not been controlling them. (Her guitar skill wasn't high enough, she didn't have good relationships with band mates, didn't perform. Yeah, rockstar.

Invite over the boss, and get a negative relationship. Then act lazy at work. Also go to work in a bad mood.

Pretty weird that sims actually want to do that kind of things. It sounds to me like it is more difficult than getting a promotion.

@ Pam: if a loser sims wants to get demoted I can hardly compare that with the fact they get a serious good moodlet the few times they actually win something. I would more believe they are used to get demoted from time to time but eventually are unrecognisible happy when they do get a promotion.
