Error Code When Saving - Game failed to save. Error Code: 0 - Fixed!!

Hello!

I’m wondering if anyone has encountered this issue before. When I tried to save my game this evening, the following error message appeared: “The game failed to save. Error Code: 0.” I tried to use the Save As option as a workaround, but I’m worried the save is corrupted as it loads a completely different game when I click on it.

Would uninstalling/reinstalling The Sims 4 work at this point? I’m really hoping I can rescue this save file somehow.

My game is up to date as of the version from June 6, 2024. I play on PC (Windows 10).

There's a few things you could try:

1. Check to make sure your anti-virus isn't blocking Sims 4, EA App or Steam - whichever game client you're using.

Add an exclusion to Windows Security:

2.  Renaming one of your backup files, if you haven't?

For example, if your save is called -

Slot_00000004.save with a .ver 0 through 5 on it. You can delete the .ver on the end of it.

I discovered I was running low on storage space, which caused the error message (I think). I was able to free up some space and recover a previous save of my file. Thankfully, I only lost about 40(ish) minutes of gameplay. The article on recovering saved games was very helpful!

Oh that's right, if running low on storage it could cause the issue.
