Quickest type of sculpture?
« on: March 01, 2011, 04:42:02 PM »
I know that clay is the quickest material to make sculptures out of; does anyone know what type of sculptures are the quickest to make, e.g. chairs, statues, side tables etc?

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I'm going to have to do some experimenting to find out. I'll post the answer once I do!

Having tested this, there isn't any pattern. Sculpting the same object in the same material can take varying amounts of time, both longer and shorter than the original time. And there doesn't seem to be any difference between different types of objects, and no relationship between length of time taken and value.

Oh well, so much for finding a quicker way to get to 25 ice sculptures!

Thanks for posting your findings on this.  Obviously, not many people have gone through this kind of testing.

Thanks for testing that Evie. I was going to post earlier, but I didn't really have anything to say apart from that I had no idea if any of the sculptures were faster.

I do know that topiary takes less time than any of the others, but that probably doesn't really pertain to your question and you can't make anything out of topiary except those animals.  I wish there were quicker ways to make statues.  Too bad vampires can't make things faster in the sculpting department.  I do know, sometimes the sim just starts a sculpture, no matter what it is, and then suddenly it is done.  Not sure what prompts that one, but I don't mind. :)

From my experience (and thanks to the Immortal Dynasty Challenge, I have quite a bit of that lol), there is no faster way to get to the 25 ice sculpture mark than to just start making ice sculptures as soon as you possibly can.  While I know that a lot of people don't care for the Savvy Sculptor trait (sculpting can result in a good amount of rare metals), not having it only drags the process out.  You'll end up shattering several sculptures before completing them.

Your Sim can suddenly get his/her tongue stuck in the sculpture, and if you're lucky (it's very rare) the sculpture will be completed immediately. For me, the fastest ice sculpture ever completed was the weird bunny (can't remember the exact name). It is huge, but gets completed in less time than a chair. It's also faster if you choose to sculpt a particular sculpture, rather than just sculpting randomly. If you want fast money or Sculptor career promotion, you can use moveobjects to remove the block of ice/stone and reveal the final sculpture. It sells for the same value as if it would, if you'd finish it. But, 'completing' sculptures this way doesn't towards any Skill Journal challenges. I wanted to complete the 25 ice sculpture challenge this way, but it didn't work.  :-\

It would make sense that larger sculptures take less time. You start with a big block of ice and remove the ice to make the sculpture therefore less ice removed equals less time and a bigger sculpture.
