Sims 2 - Neighborhoods?

I got back into TS2 a while ago. I completely forgot about the premade hoods not being safe to play right off the bat due to corruption issues and have been playing them. I've downloaded mootilda's hood checker and run it on the ones I played. Is that enough?

Is there some way to download "clean" versions or even make a megahood WITHOUT losing my Sims and their memories? Or running into the issues with moving Sims?

My knowledge of TS2 is a bit rusty, I tried to Google but couldn't find an answer to these specific questions
