Close to giving up on family
« on: January 23, 2017, 09:37:37 AM »
Hi guys,

I need a little cheering up :) My TS4 game must be cursed or broken. Yesterday, I decided to play around with genetics using multiple premade townies and some created by me as well. I wanted to test if it was possible to create offspring that at least had some appeal, so that I could make a family or even do a challenge, perhaps. Alas, all the tests came out the horrifying same - various degrees of underbite, huge chins - or chins crushed into the lower lip, either short fat faces or huge faces. I'm on the verge of tears! Am I doomed to play gay couples or just childless couples forever?

For the above reason, I have resigned to play TS3 at the moment. But, of course, I also want to play TS4 :)

@Nindigo --- I'm sorry to hear that you're so frustrated.  Maybe it would help if you don't use the genetics feature, and just create Sims the way you want them in CAS.  I think you'll feel better.  In the meantime, enjoy your TS3 break 8)!  I'm sure you'll feel better soon and be ready to give TS4 another try.

I feel your pain as my game seems to generate horrendous sims too. I've found that when you use the presets (eyes, nose, mouth) that you most like in 2 sims and then generate some kids that the results are much better but mostly I generate the kids and then age them into Teens (all in CAS) alter their features, a tweak here and there... lengthen the face/jaw, correct the horrible nose and so on and then age them back down into kids.

This only works for brand new sims that have never been in live mode as if you muck around with the age setting with sims that have been in live mode it completely stuffs up any reward traits etc. There's nothing wrong with using the cas.fulleditmode cheat to generate worlds filled with the kinds of sims you like to look at. It's your game after all. I ruthlessly delete all sims who appear ugly to me on a regular basis. There's no way I'm having unappealing sims in my game!

I have to edit all my townies as most of them are just not the size, shape, nor general look, that I like. So once a generation (of my own sims) I'll have a cas.fulleditmode townie day where they all get either a make-over or deleted if there is no hope for them.  :P It doesn't bother me if the game is using a particular townie for a job, the game will generate another sim, if the sim is ugly to me... it goes.

I've found my own sims make pretty gorgeous kids but I've worked super intensely at creating 'founder' sims that really appeal to me personally and I always marry my own sims together and never use townies unless they've been made-over etc, that way the off-spring seem to stay fairly attractive.

So, now you know my 'secrets'. lol call me shallow, I don't care there's no time for sims I don't like the look of.  ;) My game, my rules. *grin* Also, in all seriousness, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I've looked at sims on the Official Forums that other people think are gorgeous and to me they would be instantly deleted! If a sim is appealing to you that is all that matters in your own game.

I do that kind of stuff too, Play!  I don't like the way many of the generated Sims look.  A few of the townies are alright looking, but ugly Sims seem to spawn overnight in manage worlds ::).

Yes, they do spawn regularly but I've managed to limit myself to only doing a massive make-over one a generation. lol

*Note: Going into manage worlds currently resets all your club points back to zero and group members to the default 6 as that bug is back... so hopefully a fix will be out soon Click. (I hate this bug) Test in your own game and quit without saving if your game has this bug, and basically don't go into manage worlds until a fix is out.

@Playalot Thanks. It's nice to know you suffer, too - well, not really. But you know what I mean :P Here is what I've had to endure lately: Don and Clara had two sons (identical twins, actually). As kids they were totally adorable, I loved them 100% and took tons of screenshots. As teens, though, their chins and lower lips had suddenly become merged and Jay Leno-like. But worst of all - they both had Clara's voice :-[ What gives?

Anyway, I'll take everyone's advice and stop whining....for now ::) Thanks, guys <3

Oh that's a current bug... children aging up with the 1st female voice. Hopefully that too will be fixed soon. The toddler patch, although absolutely needed has introduced a whole raft of bugs. The Q&A Gurus are acknowledging them so which generally means they are working on a fix.

Hang in there, usually bug fixes that are game breaking happen fairly fast.  :)

I will make sure NOT to go into managed worlds for awhile --- until this issue is fixed.  Thanks Play.  That's messed up.  I've been working on slowly earning club perks again, so I don't want to mess up.
