Unable to get Graphics Card recognised by Sims 3
« on: June 28, 2021, 01:45:14 AM »
Hi guys! I'm having trouble getting my graphics card fully recognised by Sims 3 despite using the GPU add on support tool most people use.

My graphics card is the AMD Radeon HD 6700 from 2011, I'm on Windows 10 and my Sims 3 game was installed through Steam on my (D:) drive because my (C:) drive doesn't have enough memory space.

So I can start and play the game, but when I check my "Deviceconfig.log" file in electronic arts, it says this:

=== Graphics device info ===
Number:          0
Name (driver):   AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
Name (database): AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series [Found: 0, Matched: 1]
Vendor:          ATI
Chipset:         Vendor: 1002, Device: 68ba, Board: 1482174b, Chipset: 0000

I was told that Name (database) needs to show  [Found: 1, Matched: 1] instead of what's listed above, any 0 found means that the game still doesn't recognise my driver :/ Do any of you know how to fix this using another tool, or a manual way to get my AMD card recognised? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm also pretty tech illiterate so the more specific the instructions shared the better 😂 And please let me know if you need more info that might help find a solution!

You can add your card to the graphics files, or download a copy of the graphic files that has your card already added, see the link below:

Thank you for sharing your graphics card info. That helped confirm that your card has been added to the files. :)

Ooh thank you so much! Does that mean I should replace the GraphicsCards.sgr and GraphicsRules.sgr in my sims 3 folder with the files you shared without editing anything since you've added my graphics card already (as in paste the files in the bin folder inside my actual (D:) drive game folder)?

I'll back up the original files first as recommended of course, just want to check :D My game version is 1.67.2.024037 btw, realised I forgot to mention that in my original post so I'm mentioning now in case it affects anything!

Yes you can replace the original graphics files with the graphics files we have shared without having to edit anything, as they've already been edited.

Sounds like you know what to do with the files, but just in case, read over this section of the first post for instructions on what to do with the files.

Yes they should work with 1.67. The graphics files are the same no matter what platform (Disc, Steam or Origin) or patch level you have.
