WA Genetics
« on: July 12, 2021, 11:51:37 AM »
Hey guys,

Do you know if children born in foreign countries (China, Egypt, and France), but fathered by your Sim, always are exact copies of their mothers? In much the same manner as children brought back from a trip to the past in the time machine? Because this seems to be the case in my game. But maybe some of you guys know this for sure?

Thanks in advance!

Definitely not, I looked back at some pictures from my old Ironstar dynasty and I had a kid who was mostly his dad's clone, apologies for bad angles:

He also got something from his mum (French townie Charotte Dubois) in the form of lighter coloring and possibly his chin/jaw. No mods or anything.

I also looked back at your thread and Fatima Amin definitely looks like Miraj to me. Has she grown up yet?

Oh, you mean little Amal? Her mum is the Fatima, lol. Well, she is going to be a teen in a Sim day or so. Her eyes do look like Miraj's, but I'm not so sure about the rest of her face. Seshafi on the other hand is a downright clone of her mum, Dalida Barakat. She is a teen now and even her ears have shrunk.

I love your awesome Ironstar dynasty - thanks for sharing the pics. I used Charlotte Dubois myself a few years back - she was VJ's wife, but I moved her to Sunset valley, so I couldn't use that scenario as reference.

Okay, so I assume that I'm just experiencing a case of really dominant vanilla genes then. As I don't receive any notifications from my genetics mod when "my" foreign kids are...well, not born, but created.

Thanks for the enlightenment, Trip <3

The random genetics mod probably doesn't pick up on it because the child isn't actually born. I'm not sure if it's worth bringing up to the creator for a future mod update or not but who knows. (The same is probably a little true if you're using Traveler and making babies in another non-homeworld world so maybe there IS interest in that being supported)

Well, it turns out that teenage Amal is much more a mix of her parents' genes than her half-sister is.

And yes, perhaps. I suppose I should go ahead and mention it to the creator of the mod.
