Tips for cleaning out a sims 3 world?
« on: June 03, 2021, 02:20:00 AM »
Hello now that summer is here im finally able to get back into sims 3 again. One problen I have though is that my main generations game is way too large. Even just playing for 5 minutes it will take way too long to save, and if I go too long without a save, usually I will get an error message and be unable to save no matter what I do. The game runs so smoothly otherwise, but saving is such a hassle!! As I have a large family and friends circle, I would rather avoid trying to move everyone to a new town, and possibly lose relationships and wants/wishes. I have all the basic Nras mods like Mastercontroler or Overwatch. Any tips or guides for what I can do to clear my world out a little?? Thanks!!

I am not sure how much of this will help.  When I start having problems saving or loading. I save my Sims to the library and start over in a new save file.

However here are a few tips:

Clean up all Sim's personal inventories and family inventories. Overstuffed inventories will cause major lag.

Also if you've got many lots that are highly detailed as in there is a lot of furniture, decor and landscaping, you might see if you can edit them down to be less detailed. Highly detailed lots causes lag issues as well.

You can use Nraas Porter to save families, so as to not loose relationships.

If you want to keep the family houses, you'll want to save them to the library.

You may want to check the CurrentGame.sims3 folder
\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\CurrentGame.sims3

Specially if the game has crashed recently. In that case the remains of your most current save are in there. You can rename this folder and use it. Copy it over to the Saves folder. Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves   Be aware you will have lost some game progression.

You might try using a Save Cleaner, or trying to clean up your save file yourself. -- Back up your Sims 3 folder or Saves folder before trying any of these tips.

I use Nras and Portrait Panel to play 8+ households (its chaotic but I love large families) if I use the porter mod to move the household, will it work with more than 8 sims? Or should I move some out before I move the whole household
