My sims are dying of freezing in the summer
« on: August 24, 2020, 06:55:26 PM »
For the first time since I played (way over 20 years) my sims died of freezing in the middle of summer.  It happened with her mother bur I didn't save the game so to bring her to life again. Is this a bug?  I don't know what to do to keep them safe.
Can anyone help?
PS: the Grim reaper seems impervious to all pleading, death flower etc
Thanks

Not sure what is causing this for you, nothing I have seen.  I have seen sims freezing but not out of season.
But have the sims change into their outfit for cold weather (if they are freezing) and see if that helps.
Otherwise, it sounds like a bug.  Does it only happen in that save or all saves?

My sim family were in Granite Falls in spring and I got the message that the father was freezing to death and had turned to light blue.
He was in his sportswear doing yoga. The other six sims in the family weren't even Chilled.

The other adult sim immediately took the entire family home from vacation.
As soon as the father arrived home, he took a bath then was fine. Phew!

I just recently had someone "burning to death" while working out, when it was simply warm outside and the heat indoors was off.  I've also had sims feeling Chilled when it seems like they shouldn't be.  This does seem like a bug, but an intermittent, hard to reproduce bug.

The temperature effects have seemed buggy for a good while now. My way of coping is to simply disable it. I know it detracts from the gameplay, but I would rather not feel frustrated constantly :)

Not gonna lie, that made me laugh. I know it's not a laughing matter. Sorry about that.

I have never seen anyone freeze in summer, but temps fluctuate wildly from place to place. It's frustrating that they don't switch their clothing to adapt to the weather. But it takes a good while for a sim to freeze to death, so its hard to kill them unless you ignore them.

It doesn't seem like it's as bad as it was when Seasons first showed up. There was a Spa that I placed in the game that became a Killing Field because it had meditation stools outside.

Could it have been a mystery weather day with cold in the summer?

Come to think of it, after reading your post, i had that happen in two of my saves, not so much freezing, but chilled when it was warm.  You also have to carefully read the wording on those traits, the weather ones, because you can't undo them.  I used the weather traits, not sure maybe that had something to do with mine.  I have a feeling though, it is another bug, what else is new, haha.

I never use the Thermostat feature.
My workaround is to save up satisfaction and buy my teen and older sims the Heatproof and Iceproof reward traits.
I wish I could buy them all an anti-Hysteria reward trait as well....
