What do I do after creating my Sim? -- Xbox 360

I have my sim created, and I think I need to go to the library to learn a skill to get a job.

How in the world do I get there?

Also, my sim is sitting in a chair in the dining room and I can't get him to stand up.

Lastly, I can zoom in, but how do I make it so it stays that way when needed?

Click on the bookshelf and pick out a book to help learn skills or click on Map View button on the user interface, find the library and select Visit Library. Check the newspaper or use a computer to help find jobs.

Click on the floor in a different room/area to get them to move around.

I am not sure how to get it to stay zoomed in. I feel I'm always zooming in and out for different things.

Sorry, this game is nothing like the sims back in 2000!

And as I'm want to be... I'm probably not conveying my questions correctly.

Like I say, I've created my sim, but I have no idea what to do next. I'm sure the 1st thing that needs doing is learning a skill or something. I can get my sim out on to the street, but where do I see a map or something?

I have the tutor going, but I have no clue to what the following means.

"Sometimes it helps to move the camera directly to the cursor, center the camera by pressing in on RS until you hear a click."

What cursor. Xbox 360 if that helps.

Isn't there a manual to help get started?

Ahhh!! You're trying to play the console edition of the game. It's somewhat different than the computer version of the game. I'm sorry for the confusion.

I've never played the console edition, so I may not be much help. I did find some links that might be helpful.

Darn it. Those articles only talk about things like you can have a unique personality Etc.

I don't think it really matters what platform it is being played on because my problem is the same no matter what platform is being used.

Step two of the tutorial says something about moving my camera to the cursor and wait for a click. What cursor? Since the tutorial is made for the Xbox 360 it can't be a cursor like you would move around with a mouse.

I don't recall the exact wording but it is in one of my earlier messages.

I'm sorry they weren't helpful. There's not a whole lot of information on the console edition of the game.

It kind of does matter what platform you're playing on.  The controls on how to do things are different between the computer version and the console version of the game.

For example, computer users can press the M key or click on the Map View button to see map view. This is partly why I miss-understood your question to begin with.



Also the user interface is different on the console from what I've been able to tell.

You may need to see if you can move the camera around with your controller to see if you can find the cursor?

I'm not sure if there's really a manual or a specific guide for the console version. But you could search Youtube for Sims 3 Xbox 360. That might help you some ideas on how to play.

Yeah, every time I ask Google, even though I specify Xbox 360 99% of the articles I find are for the PC.

Sorry, I'm an old man and my memory has gone to RAM. Seems to make it difficult to put my thoughts into words.

I probably should not have said anything about the cursor. It's not terribly relevant to my issue.

After you built your sims, you bought a house, what is the very next thing you did?

I usually start by having them maybe read a skill book from the book shelf, wait for the news paper if it hasn't come yet and look through it for job selections.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too but how do you find the library much less get to it?

I don't know how to find the library in the console edition. I'm not familiar with it or the town.

Doing a search on it, it looks like it's to the left of the map, by the military base.

You'll need to experiment with the controller to find the controls that will allow you to see the town map and let you travel to the different places.
