Trait Mechanics and details
« on: June 09, 2020, 05:29:21 PM »
Hi! First time poster here.

Carl's Super Sim video got me really interested in finding out the perfect combination of traits for my own Super Sim.

I have not seen a guide anywhere that gives specific details and/or underlying mechanics on what exactly each trait does other than being based off the description in game. There is an old thread discussing effect of emotions on skills that touched on Muser but that's about it.

I tried to dig into the trait/buff tuning files to see if it can shed any light. Some were easy to see, but some had no clear description which made the process a lot more confounding.  From what I can tell:-

Animal Affection - dont have this pack. Cant tell what this does.
High Metabolism - 50% [effect] to fit and fat
Muser - explored before, 60% or 80% boost to creative skill gains, 3 or 4 bonus skill level to creative skills.
Dastardly - 20% higher success chance for interactions. +2 bonus skill level to skills, 1.5x relationship effects (cant remember if its mischief and mean or just one of the two)
Domestic - not visible in tuning files
Essence of Flavor - Mixology, Cooking and Gourmet cooking skills +1
Business Savvy - not visible in tuning files
Quick Learner - 10% bonus to all skill gains
Hometurf - Grants a happy +1 that lasts for 180 (3 hours?), has 360 (6 hours?) cooldown
Alluring - 20% higher success chance for flirty interactions. +2 bonus skill level to charisma skills
Collector - not visible in tuning files
Gregarious - 20% higher success chance for friendly interactions, 1.25 relationship effects
Career-minded - 66% career multiplier for athlete, style influence, culinary, painter

I also took a peek at the over-achiever buff.
Over-achiever - 50% bonus to skill gains, (50% + 50%) bonus to all adult careers progression, (50% + 25%) bonus to teen career progression
Not sure if I'm reading this one wrong but it seems massively overpowered, especially from a career perspective because it it showing a buff to all careers, then each career has its own career bonus.

Perfectionist seems to have some modifier related to progress at 70% - not sure if this means they're just 30% slower than usual.

I am fairly certain that some, if not most of the effects are not contained within the Buff tuning so I could still be missing a whole lot.

I only focused on Bonus traits or traits that cannot be easily obtained or changed without cheating.

Interested to know if any one else has any info or feedback to share?
