Story progression

Is story progression a thing now I always thought that Sims 4 townies didn't really do anything like get into relationships by themselves.
I noticed in a generational game that my second gen sims wife was the step daughter of Geoffrey Landgrabb who evidently remarried after Nancy died. Same file Malcolm hot married and was working in the business career.
Then today I'm playing my baby boomer challenge start playing with Sergio and Siobhan to discover they had become boyfriend and girlfriend with no intervention.
Is this a new thing or did I just miss some update.

Have you maybe started using MCCC?  One of it's many features is that townies will marry and have kids, not necessarily in that order.  My current household is living in the Ward Den lot, because Judith has remarried and moved away.  I don't mind as much, displacing the random generated sim who was living there alone.

I mean I have noticed that you are no longer allowed to rush romantic relationships for example you can't propose after a first kiss. I mean what kind of blasphemy is that. Also Malcolm Landgraab is apparently a ceo in my game and somehow in my family tree. Very dodgy if you ask me.

Sergio and Siobhan start off as boyfriend and girlfriend. Don't know what to say about the Landgraabs though.

That is very odd, story progression has never worked like that before. Maybe the last update has changed things and the devs simply haven't informed us? Honestly...I simply don't know!
