Can't See Game Controls

I sent my sims on a trip to China and while on vacation, saved and exited the game. When I reloaded the game, I was unable to see any of the game controls or control any of my sims. The keyboard could still control the game speed. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. What else can I do?

Did you by chance hit the TAB key on your keyboard?

You reinstalled the game completely and still can't see the user interface (game controls)?  My first suggest would have been to use the Task Manager to shut down the game and then restart.  But it sounds like you've already done that and more.

No I haven't hit the TAB key. I thought of that as well.

And I tried opening another of my saved games, and it worked fine. So it's just the one file.

You would in that case just run over a glitch or something which corrupted the save game.
Have you seen if the backup save still works? If it's not a too big loss I would recommend you to start over at the backup save. Trying to find a solution may take longer time than to just get to where you were.

This has happened to me in China.  Can't do anything.

I tried to reload from a back up folder, but the problem passed over, even though there was no problem at the time the back up folder was saved.
