Story Progression?
« on: January 01, 2020, 10:34:22 PM »
So, I been goofing around with Sims 4 for a bit, but haven't really played for very long on any one Sim.  I was considering starting a legacy challenge, and I was wondering how the story progression is in Sims 4.  Do Townies get married/have babies?  If not, how does the town get repopulated?  Would filling worlds like Newcrest with houses encourage new Sims to move in?

Welcome back!
Story progression is almost non-existent. You have the option to check "Fill empty houses" and those will give you new Sims in your town. Sending your Sims to the gym, the park, etc. will also generate townies. But they don't interact with each other much. You can also go into Household Management and delete/create townies.

Mods are one way to provide story progression. I think Carl has some recommendations on the Guide.

Another way is to play rotationally. I've got 10 families going, and some people try to control everyone in their Sims world.

I don' think we'll get Story progression this time around, and even in TS3, it broke for me when Pets came out.

My biggest concern was my worlds becoming complete ghost towns after a few generations so, while we might not have proper story progression, it sounds like there's an option to keep that from happening at least.

I used Master Controller quite a bit when I played Sims 3 so I'm looking into MCCC right now, but I need to make sure that I know how it works before I even consider installing it.  I am all too familiar with what can go wrong modding games lol.

MCCC is really complicated, and I've never got my head round it to use it, but all reports are that it is a very stable mod, updated regularly and swifly for each patch and the help available from the creators is considered very good.
