Using Relationships at Work
« on: January 01, 2011, 10:46:16 PM »
In Carl's relationship guide, he refers to "relationship decay" between two friends (Building Friendship section) - that the relationship level naturally declines over time.  However, when I was doing a relationship experiment game, I noticed that my Romantic Interest seemed to have a very, very slow relationship decay.  I didn't buy the Long Distance Friend LTR either.

Has anyone else noticed this?  If it's true, it would be a good way to speed up the rate your sims advance in a career: befriend coworkers and bosses, flirt, confess attraction, and then you can coast (Maybe!).  Also, if you keep the coworkers only as RI I don't think it would affect any other relationships, romantic or otherwise.

So, are you saying that using romantic relationships with your co-workers will let you advance in your career quicker?

YES Because your boss relationship and your co-worker relationship would always be outstanding (or whatever the top rank is called).

I changed the title of this topic to better reflect what it's about.

I've noticed that. I had a guy who had two love relationships but one one he didn't marry still loved him and continued to like him.

I dunno.  Doesn't every career have a "chat with co-workers" or "suck up to boss" tone?  I just use those along with the Office Hero LTR and I never have any problems sustaining work relationships.

TY Pam!  I guess I was thinking that you could use it to bolster relationships in general, but in my post I was specifically talking about work relationships.  I also viewed it on my game according to the perspective of work relationships.

@Siwel: I'm glad you noticed it too!

Yes, but I would rather "practice <skill>" or "take it easy" and not spend points for the LTR.  ;D  I want to get up to level 10 of my career as quickly as possible.  What I did in this experimental game, I met all my co-workers, threw a party and chatted them up.  I intended to Confess Attraction to my boss but everyone went home before I did.  The next day, I did Confess Attraction to my boss, and in subsequent days Confessed Attraction to my co-workers.  Then, while at work I "Practice(d) Cooking" or "Take (took) It Easy" and got a promotion about every 3 days.  On non-work days I would call one co-worker just to chat, then focus on improving my cooking skill (culinary job).  Wanted to save my LTR points for the collection helper.

Sorry to talk about my game experiment and deviate from focusing on the topic!
