Sound keeps breaking, plus the keyboard and mouse are lagging
« on: September 12, 2019, 11:47:57 PM »
Alright, so after 3 years I've finally been able to run the game (I got a new pc - Windows 10). If I alt-tab, the sound stops working. (Everything else is fine, it's just muted). The only way to fix the sound is by closing the game and repairing it using Origin. In addition to alt-tabbing, closing the game breaks the sound. So every time I want to play, I start by repairing it. I have no idea why.

The next issue is that my mouse and keyboard are really laggy. It started with just the mouse. If I had been playing for a bit, it would start acting up. Now, it's after a few minutes, plus the keyboard with the same severity. Inputting text is super laggy, moving the camera, everything. It makes the game pretty unplayable. This issue is only prevalent while playing the game. I don't know, maybe my pc isn't good enough to run it well? Or with EA, maybe it just doesn't agree with the game.

My graphics card isn't supported either, which could be causing issues. It's an Intel UHD 630. So could anyone offer some help? Thank you.

If it's just in the game, try lowering the graphics settings to see if it helps. It may be that the computer is having a hard time keeping up with what's going on in-game. Lowering the graphics may help with that.

Here are a couple of threads on fixing issues with the Sound in Sims 4.

No Sound in SIMS 4

The suggested fix to having to repair game before playing is to reset the Sims 4 folder.

To Reset the Sims 4 Folder:

Move the Sims 4 folder from Documents to the desktop. Launch the game again so it creates a new Sims 4 folder.

Try a test-game to see if things are working okay. If so, start copying over the folders and files listed below:

- Options.ini File -- The graphic/sounds/gameplay options
- Saves -- Saved game files - leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave. It is not used anymore.
- Tray -- Sims, Houses, Rooms and Community lots
- Screenshots -- Photos you've taken with the C key in-game.
- Recorded Videos -- Video clips you've taken with the V key in-game.
- Mods -- Game mods and Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, and makeup
** Put mods back one by one to make sure they all still work.

Again, please do test your mods and custom content as they can become outdated with most new game patches.
