Friendships with fellow professionals

Has anyone determined if it is beneficial to an actors career to become friends with the professionals they meet on the set?  Does it do you any good to be friendly with the producer for example?

Well, I do know that to get gold on your gigs, you have to follow the prompts up in the corner and many of them involve talking/gossiping, etc with your coworkers.  If you know all of them, it saves time.  And if you befriend other celebrities, it helps your own fame.  Other than that, it just gives your sim more friends ^^
