Living in the University town
« on: July 31, 2018, 07:08:32 PM »
I started a new game save with a young adult who went to university for 3 terms.

Then, he met a girl, married her and now, she's pregnant.  I forgot about the fact that the new husband an wife are not done with college.

Is it possible for a whole family to rent a house on the University campus?  I would wait until the baby is a child.  Can children go to school on the bus in the University town?

Are there any special steps to get that to work?

I don't think the university town is/was meant to be a livable world by default. It's more meant to travel there to go to classes and then go back to your home world after the classes are finished.

However, there may be mods that can help with making it livable. If that's something you're interested in you may want to ask over at Nraas. - http://nraas.wikispaces.com/page/messages/Chatterbox

Thank you very much!  So, if I don't use mods, would one parent go to college, and then the other could go ---- because they don't have enough money to hire a nanny.  My main family that I've played since I started TS3 had a lot of money, but for now, unless it gets way too hard, I wanted to try playing with Sims who don't have much money.

What happens to children when one parent is at college?  Do they go to school or age at all?

If you don't want to use mods I'd send only one Sim to University. That Sim would most likely become your active Sim and the others left back in the home world wouldn't be active. They wouldn't be doing anything.

When each parent came home from college, the children and the other parent were still dancing to the radio, which is what they were doing when the parent going to college left for campus.  Both parents have graduated and can see their triplet girls again, and are both in the business career.

Now, I just need to raise the parents' friendship and romance levels, so they can sleep in the same bed again.  Any tips about how to do that.  I've tried the friendly and romance socials that I've used before in TS4 and TS3.  This save is only a few days old.

Keep doing what your doing, que up the romantic and friendly interactions. They'll get it... eventually.

In my current game it took my Sim what seemed like forever to be in a good enough relationship to sleep together in the same bed. Before that I ended up putting two single beds together in the same bedroom. So it at least looked like they were sleeping together.

I'll keep following my plan, then.  It's a good idea to put 2 single beds together 8)
