Graphics Help - GT 1030
« on: September 02, 2017, 01:44:47 AM »
Hi all,

Need help as to why my Sims 3 game is unable to be played even after the graphic card is being recognize. Have tried searching and googling on the possible causes / solution but could not find anything relating to the problem I'm facing.

Problem started when the game is unable to recognize my new graphic card. Came across the post "How-To: Get Sims 3 to Recognize a New Graphics Card" and did all the steps. Now that the graphic card is recognize by the game it is still unable to play. The game could not make it pass the selection screen (snapshot attached) and would crash saying the game stop responding.

Graphic card model: GeForce GT 1030

Have tried all the below but problem still remain:
- Uninstall & re-installing the Sims 3 game
- Uninstall graphic card driver and re-installing
- Delete all save game
- Changing screen resolutions

Here are some general crashing tips to try:

General Crashing Issues

Also, just in case you need the graphics files for your card is attached to this post.

The files in the zipped file attached should work for you. Download and unzip. You can overwrite the current .sgr files with these.

You may need to load the game to main menu and exit to make the Deviceconfig file be aware of the change.

Then the DeviceConfig file should be able to say "Found: 1, Matched: 1"

Thanks very much for the help. The game is playable now.

Just replace the files you attached and also did a Sims 3 Factory Reset which was from the link provided.
