Trouble getting toddler to eat
« on: February 08, 2018, 12:14:11 PM »
I am having trouble getting my toddler to eat. While i have an adult sim selected I click on toddler and then "feed toddler" or something like that. The adult responds with waving to the  walls and speaking some Sim language.

Now eventually the toddler crawled his way to the high chair to eat but not after spending 45 min trying.  Is there a way to get t the toddler to eat faster?

I forgot to mention I am playing on PS4.

I'm not sure if this is quite the issue or not, but it has been reported that there are issues with the highchair and the work-around for it is to remove the highchair, and give food from the Sims inventory or place a plate of food down so the toddler can grab it.

Not going to lie - I put a plate of food on the floor and direct the toddler to eat it. Mostly because every time I give my Sims a high chair, they constantly put the poor toddler in it and just leave them there without food  :o

@Dreamweaver true. I make family servings and let the toddler grab it off of the counter themselves. Then they proceed to take it to the couch and watch TV as they eat. Fine by me! As long as they don’t sit in the high chair and throw their food down every time!

I only use the high chair if I am wanting to add some level of difficulty into my sims lives tbh, otherwise I drag the plate of food to wherever the toddler is and have them grab a serving. Saying that though, I've been using the high chair in my current household for their twins and it's actually been easier than previously. Kinda handy for trapping one in there while my sim deals with the other!

Just don't use high chairs. They only add to the frustration. At least without them, other Sims can "only" give the toddlers milk. But that still leaves the house littered with empty and stinky little cups after a while unless one of your Sims are neat :-\

The way I feed my Sim toddlers is I take control of them and open the fridge, then place a plate with party servings in front of them, make them grab a serving and return the rest to the fridge. I pause my game during it (save for the grabbing) in order to keep the food fresh. I don't trust my parent Sims to feed the toddler with appropriate food. Using a high chair, they only seem to give the toddlers crackers and desserts at every meal which makes the little ones go nuts after a bit because their sugar-rush ends. So the kids get milk and food I choose, exclusively :)

@Nindigo  I think the whole RNG aspect of what sims feed their toddlers doesn't function too well as I've noticed that each adult sim seems to get stuck in what they feed them. One of mine always feeds chicken nuggets, which is cute but time consuming, the other always gives ham sandwich.
