Laundry Day Did You Know...
« on: January 20, 2018, 12:15:09 AM »
Decided to start this thread as there's quite a bit to this little pack.

Did you know...

Sims will auto move clothes to the dryer and they don't need the Neat Trait to do this.
The additives stay in the washing machine until your sim removes them.
Having clothes Cleanliness:clean and Dryness:dry and warm will give a playful moodlet for 4hrs which is pretty handy for any career that needs the playful moodlet.
Washing lines can be upgraded (handiness L3) to 'Iron Line' meaning it will never break or catch fire! So... I guess washing lines can both break and catch fire!

*edited to add (seeing as I'm talking to myself anyway!)  :P

Sims will auto do the entire cycle of washing and drying and putting away if given enough time. As placing washing in the machine and starting the machine are separate animations this time around sims on auto will do this in two stages.
Butlers and Maids will do laundry.
While your sims won't auto clean the lint trap Butlers and Maids will.
Sims with the Tormentor reward Trait (from completing Chief of Mischief Aspiration) can sabotage washer/dryers causing them to break
Sims with L4 mischief can 'add extra soap' if the washing machine has been upgraded for Laundry Additives. (level 6 handiness skill)

The interaction 'Search Pockets' seems to only give change although there is a chance for other items according to SimGuruGraham but I haven't seen anything else yet. Each laundry pile/hamper can only be searched once but just have your sim change their clothes and they can do another search.

I just got this pack and haven't tried it out on my Sim family yet. Looks like fun tho! I definitely used this in Sims 3!

Do you mean the Future Cube and was this when searching pockets?

If you don't want your sims to get playful from the Clean Dry and Warm washing, get your sims to put it down and then leave it until its state becomes just Dry, then have your sims put it away.

Regarding "Search pockets," my Sims have found a goldfish and a treasure map.

It is possible to do laundry on a community lot, but it's tricky. You basically have to have a washing machine and hamper at home.
Put your laundry in the washing machine, then take it out and set it on the ground.
You can now put it in personal inventory.
Your "laundromat" will need a washer, dryer, and a counter.
When you've finished doing the laundry there, you should have a stack of folded clothes to put in your inventory. Back at the home lot, click on the stack and choose "put away."

One thing I have noticed is if you fully upgrade the washer and dryer, your sims don't need to clean the lint trap, it's automatically done for you.

There's a specific upgrade if you just want to make the lint cleaning automatic.

How can you tell if your sim’s clothes are in what state? I keep hearing there’s a way to know if they’re pristine?

How can you tell if your sim’s clothes are in what state? I keep hearing there’s a way to know if they’re pristine?

So when you choose the option (for example) 'Unload and Move Laundry to' and then click then hover your mouse over 'Add to Dryer' and see the state of the washing:

In this case the washing was Pristine and Damp as my sim was moving it to the dryer to get it dry.

You can do the same 'hover over with your mouse' on the washing tub and the clothes line and the dryer as well. That way you know to dry again or rewash or to fold and put away or fold and place down etc.

Folding and placing down means that you can change the state of the washing from clean and dry and warm to just clean and dry as the 'warm' state gives a playful moodlet that might not always be useful.

:o Did you know that Sims will stop several times mid-action (singing, for example) to check their worn clothes (if washed and clean)? A serenade is suddenly not the same anymore when your crooning Sim stops to brush off their attire >:( >:( >:(
