Completing task, using props
« on: January 09, 2018, 06:27:37 PM »
Hello. I can not play the violin. I have the ’grown up’ version, nothing blocking the way to approach it, my Sim is in the right mood for it.
The violin shows up in my task que then either crossed off staight away or the icon/symbol appears showing a two feet and the red cross. I believe it is mean, can not be access the violin or get to it.
What am I doing wrong? The violin is sitting on the table.

I am not gonna open another tread for this but I have a similar problem with the computer. I put it on the office table and my Sim can not do nothing with it. Same story, waving in the middle of the room and the icon/symbol comes up in the que (foot with the red cross) he can not access it. I thought fine, I did put the same computer on an another desk in the same room but opposite wall and he can use it now.

It did not solved this problem I just went around it, but I have another Sim in a different household and I like her to use the computer and yes she can not either and I do not have the space to shuffle tables around in her house so she is kind of whitout computer.

While I am here the same ’blocked access’ I get when my Sim want to repair the radio. The radio was functioning fine but now need to fix the electrical fault and my Sim can not go there. He is on level 2 fixing skill if this mean anything to the matter. I reckon he should be able to fix it. He is okay with the dishwasher and fridge to fix.

Please any advise what would help I am happy to take. Sorry I packed together these but probably somehow they are related a way I play or my Sims’ house set up and operate but I just don’t see.
Thank you

With the violin, I think it has to be on the floor or in your Sim's inventory. I'm not sure why you would have problems with the computer or the radio. Sometimes the blocked access sign comes up when your Sim is in a different room from the object, or even when the Sim has to change direction too many times to get to it.

Thx for the violin advise MarianT, I check it out in the minute. tbh, never thought of put it on the floor, I certainly would never do that in real life. It is a nice instrument should be proudly displayed as a centre piece in the room.

My Simmies in the same room a bit far few steps realy from the object I want them to interact with, nothing blocking their way would be a straight line to walk upto the object(s).

If you have placed items using the Move Objects On cheat sims can often have problems accessing them.

Some chairs do not work with the desks. The way to check is make sure you are in the correct section of chairs in build mode by clicking the chair in the study section where you buy desks and by lifting the desk in build mode and if it is correct the desk and chair will both move as one object.

Some of the chairs that are listed in the Study section like Playalot mentioned don't work, normally it's the ones unlocked with careers and/or skills, you'll have to try some out and see.

One way to find out if your Sim can access an object is to pick it up in buy mode, if the outline around it is highlighted in yellow then it won't work, so you'll need to rotate it until the outline is green. Or failing that, move stuff around until it shows up outlined in green like that. It's a trick I learned ages ago, hope it makes sense. Too much clutter on a desk can get in the way too.

Thank you both of you...yes, it was the wrong chair. I swaped it, now my girl can use the computer too and lots of leveling up to do but I am happy.
