Sims and what They Like to Read
« on: December 18, 2010, 05:41:29 PM »
This question came up in another thread and following a request from Leto, I'm starting a new topic for it.  The question is:  how do sims decide what they like to read?  In my Clan Douglas Dynasty, the founder (Angler, Kleptomaniac, Friendly, Handy, Loves the Outdoors) liked to read a book that came from one of the Pro Sports career opportunities.  If that book was in the bookcase when I told him to "read something", he would almost invariably choose that book.  Didn't matter that the bookcase was full of books he had and hadn't read, he kept coming back to that one.  Similarly, one of the other Dynasty members (Bookworm, Natural Cook, Photographer's Eye, Friendly, Good) liked to pick up the pregnancy book and reread it.

In the other thread it was suggested that a sim's traits might influence what they like to read, which would seem logical.  But I can't see it applying in these two examples.  What experience have others had with this?

My overskill sim has read a lot of books, everything he could get in the game actually, but somehow he just likes to re-read that pregnancy book for I-don't-know-what reason. Thing is, he isn't a family oriented sim (he is now, but he wasn't then) and he certainly isn't a good sim, if that makes it trigre.
So if traits does matter, I just don't see the logically here yet.

Btw, nice you've made a topic Schipperke. Less work for me to click the 'New topic' button. ;)

I've only really noticed one of my sims who tends to read the same book all the time, and that is my sim with commitment issues who reads... "Commitment Issues". So that's in accordance with her traits I guess! xD

@Leto:

What is "trigre"?  I think it's been lost in translation, but I can't make out what you're trying to say.

@Pam- I think he meant to say "trigger", but just misspelled it.

Yes, 'trigger' it is. But I somehow made it into a sort of Leto-spell I guess... :$
Sometimes I got confused with the two last letters of a word because sometimes you end one with 'el' and another time with 'le'. I don't know why, but I copied that confusion to 're' and 'er' words too.

Oh well, people make mistakes I can't read dutch very well. (I only know a bit) Zie ak bon het typen. Also I think traits are the main cause of what book your sim reads.
