Live Mode Unplayable The Sims 4 (Mods/CC Related)
« on: December 10, 2017, 04:08:51 PM »
I don't appear to be the only one with this issue. Anyway, I have tried playing my households, especially the Homestuck one I spent forever on. Then there is the recovery accounts, and the recoveries of the super old games I had saved.

None of them work. I hold my mouse over the household's, and a rapid blue loading screen will appear. It isn't any of my MODS either, I have even turned them off completely. Sometimes when I recover accounts to play, it will appear to work, only for me to go into the household and not be able to see any of the family member icons. I have tried everything, even making a new folder, but to no avail. This really sucks because it's been unplayable for months and this is the only game I have on my laptop, and the only one I really like. :( And I had some crazy awesome houses and such. Plus, I have invested a lot into this game. Will there ever be an update to fix this? It's really bad and I don't want to lose all my people!

I am not really sure what's going on with your game, but here are some troubleshooting tips to try:

1. Move the mods folder to desktop (for testing purposes) - This is to fully make sure it's not outdated mods/cc or some hidden files in the Mods folder. - Read more in the post linked below:

2. Delete Game Cache Files (What and How-To)
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=21899.msg401662#msg401662

The localthumbcache.package can be found in the main Sims 4 folder
D:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

3. Repair Game  - In Origin, right-click on Sims 4 and select Repair. - Do note  this repairs the game's install files. It does not make any changes to the saved game files. - Saved games are safe - won't be deleted.

4. Try a Sims 4 Factory Reset - (What & Howto)

Edit:

You mentioned Sims missing from UI?

If this is the case you may want to go over to Answers HQ, explain your issue and see if they might want you to share your game saves.

Just to add a bit about mods: it's never enough to just disable them, you have to remove all mods and cc entirely from your game (drag to desk top etc) and then you need to delete the loaclthumbcache.package file from your TheSims 4 folder. Most (not all, but most) bugs are caused by outdated mods or broken cc.

Always test in a brand new game file, not in the game where you are having the problems as game files can become corrupt.

Always quit the game entirely not to the main menu as corruption can spread to all other saved games.
