How do I get back to old neighborhood?

This sounds weird, but since I have had Sims4, I had never started a new game.  So, since I installed pets, I decided to start a new game.  After playing a while, I wanted to go back to my other games, so I clicked on saved games.  There use to be a list of your saved games and you could click on the first one or whichever one and it would take you back to your older saved games that you played last.  When I clicked on saved games, pictures came up of my games, but the first one, which was the last one that I supposedly played, was not there.  The last saved game shows, 2016.  I can't find my old neighborhood.  Am I missing something or have I just lost years worth of my sims?  I hope I didn't lose them, because I would not be a happy camper.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by going back to an old neighborhood.

Are you talking about say for example, your Sim is originally from say Willow Creek, but you are in Brindleton Bay, and you want to get back to Willow Creek?

If this is the case, you can have them either visit by phone, or World Select Menu and selecting what Town to visit. You can also move by phone as well.

Or if you're wanting to get back to a previous saved game.

I don't think you've lost any of your saved games. If you want to check to be sure. Go to your Sims 4 folder, and look in the Saves folder to see what you have. \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves

If you have a long list of Slot_00000002.save or similar files, you've got your saved games.

What I mean is, I started a new game, new neighborhoods and now I want to go back to my first old neighborhood that I started when the sims4 first came out.  I went to the saves folder and it jumps from 2015 to Friday, 11/10/17.  I don't see any of the old games that I have been playing all of this time.  There is no in between on my games. There didn't use to be picture icons, I would rather have the list of saves like in the sims4 folder.  Wonder if changing the format has anything to do with it.  I had a family in my old neighborhood, I was on the 20th generation and now I cannot find it, good grief.

You might have to go through your 2015 saves to see if you can find the save your looking for.

Remember when we first got sims4 and clicked on load game, it was a list exactly like in the sims4 folder. I remember getting back a saved game exactly like the guide says. I do have a save in my Sims folder from friday and did what it said to do, only problem, since installing pets, now when you click on load game, it is pictures of your saved games. My old ones are not in there from last week, even the games I played before pets. I am sure I am not explaining this right. All I know,I do not have any of my games for the past two years. Oh well, I have started over so many times, I just hate losing all of those.

@Saltypaws Maybe if you tried repairing the game, the old save files will show up again? Just a thought.

Horrible thought but you didn't accidentally save over your old save when playing your brand new save?

That is a possibility, but how could that happen when it a different game? Hmmm, well if I did then I guess just start over. Good grief. Well, if anyone has any other suggestions, let me know. Right now I will just play the game and not start any new ones. Thanks.

I just had a new save copy over an old save, even though I was on the new save slot and had given it a new name.  It tried to overwrite a 2nd, different, save the next time I went to use the new save button.  I only noticed the 2nd time cause I checked the name on the new save slot and it gave the older saves name instead.  Now going to back up the saves folder in case it tries it again.

Does Restore Save ignore the write-over save and recover the original save file? (I don't know how it works....)
