Sim will not get promoted--Solved

I'm playing Raj Rasoya and despite having his work performance bar in the excellent range for some time, he is not getting promoted. I've repaired the game, had him travel and still no luck. I'm wondering if it's because he was placed at the career level of Pastry Chef but does not have mixology skill, which would have been required at a lower job level. It's my Ten Gen Townie dynasty. so I wouldn't be able to skill Mixology until the next free day. I was wondering if anyone else had problems with getting him promoted? Other Sims in the household are being promoted as they should.

Of course, he has not been able to prepare food every day, but he has done so on free days.

There is a glitch with the chef career that causes this in some games. Unfortunately it's been some time since this has surfaced and I can't quite remember the details. From what I remember there isn't a work-around but instead you have to manually cheat the sim to the next level when all the requirements have been met.

Well, for what it's worth, I started the free day and had Raj practice making drinks. He got the first Mixology skill point but had to stop to go to work. He got promoted. So, either it was coincidence (I don't think so) or the game had to see some Mixology skill. Of course, the point for the promotion didn't count because it was a free day! That's okay, though, because I'm at a point in the challenge where I need to delay points so control of my heir doesn't happen while she is still a child.

I'm not seeing anything at AnswersHQ for this particular issue, although it's a pretty common issue?
