Thanks for all the responses guys! :)

I think as soon as you place the smithy the walls go up.  I already had the knight and the first quest he had he got the snot beat out of him too, but by the one he was suppose to challenge. :P  He's doing much better, now that he is level 7. ;D  After I restarted the quest, I noticed a smaller number of bandits, cutpurses, pirates and hooligans.  At least he was able to mine several times without getting mugged.

I am guilty of playing my sims instead of going back to medieval.  But as soon as I get back I'll look to see how high my security is now.  Like I said, I quit the blacksmith without saving cause he was epic failure.

Yeah, I think the ! is because of the points are too numerous to earn during that quest and you won't get credit for them.

If you put your cursor over the goblet in the Quest Loot area, another panel will pop-up showing you what aspects you would receive, as well as the RP, $ and XP.  If you only need one security aspect then you don't have to worry about finishing the quest in the Platinum level unless you just want to make the additional RP, $ and XP.

I had muggers in the kingdom when security was low (red) but I did not consider it a problem. Why? I give my combat heroes the Bloodthirsty fatal flaw. I use the Threaten For Money action to mug the muggers. The combat that follows clears the FF debuff and provide EXP and money. I then challenge the mugger to a duel to the death. No more muggings in the area until a new mugger arrives the next evening.

Yeah, I quite like the muggers myself. Trying to go against my level 10 spy-master and his doomsword =)

You get castle walls once you have the capacity to reach security level 7. A lot of people were having crashing issues with the walls until EA made the patch for it. Anyways, once you place enough buildings (it doesn't necessarily matter which ones they are however certain buildings will give you more security points than others) the walls will automatically go up.

I still had muggers even with the walls up especially at the dock and by the gate when my Smithy (who I was playing at the time) went to the village.

Sometimes it is fun to play allowing the muggers and/or low security as you can receive Watcher Achievement rewards.  It also helps to build up your Spy and Knight by allowing 'free' duels to the death!

On the first ambition, I never got mugged. On the second ambition, I noticed I will get an announcement that so and so got mugged for $0.  I guess the poor sim is really is poor and my sim, I can't even count how many times the guy gets mugged.  Probably once a night, lol.  :)

I've never been mugged but my security in the kingdom has always been a bit on the high side.  I tend to have all the buildings placed early (except for the imperial domination one I just did).  I may not actually put a spy in but I have the building in place.  Just putting the barracks down seems to keep guards everywhere or maybe that's for doing a quest and I'm just not realizing it.

I think it's for an edict.  The one where you'll have more guards sent to protect villagers.   After that I had guards everywhere and no barracks up yet.

I also have alot of mugglers, bandits and such.
I have the walls around my land, have the barracks, spy headquarters, guards scattered across, and I keep sending the criminals to the pit. But they keep coming back!
But I also have only 1 point on security(it says very low)
How to I fix it? How much does making the security-quests help?

To improve Kingdom security, choose Quests that reward multiple Shields (the security icon) rather than Hearts (well-being), Heads (knowledge) or Lyres (culture). When you select a quest, you can mouse over the reward icon, to see the improvement you earn for each level - bronze, silver, gold and platinum. It is worthwhile to strive to complete each quest at Platinum. The best quests will raise your Kingdom's security by 4, at platinum-level victory.

Unless you raise Kingdom security with quests, your buildings only increase potential. And as long as you have "low" security, you will have bandits and burglars, no matter how many you duel to the death or send to the pit. Raising Kingdom security is the only solution.
