Sims 3 - How to install a fixed world
« on: May 29, 2017, 09:28:21 AM »
Hi guys,

I have just started playing in Twinbrook and it has been very glitchy and stuttery. Many have said that it has to do with routing issues and whatnot. One suggestion was to download Ellacharmed's world fix. Great. Just I struggle to understand how I am supposed to install it. I have read the instructions that are on the page (even with pictures) and it still flies right on over my head. Anybody willing to go this with me step by step?

Thanks,

✽ ~ Updated Mar.2023✽ -- ✽ Edited the .world install path for fixed worlds. Example, Twinbrook (Ambitions)

When you see a world that you like, such as the fixed Twinbrook world -
http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=456220

1.) Download all the zipped files for the world.
2.) Once all files are downloaded, rename the files if necessary.
3.) Right-click on the first file and select Extract Here from the menu.
4.) You should now have a file called Twinbrook.world.
5.) Right-click on the .world file and select Copy from the menu.
6.) Navigate to the world's folder - C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 3\Ambitions\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Worlds
7.) Rename the original Twinbrook.world file to something like Twinbrook.world.original. (this is okay to do - it won't hurt the world)
8.) Right-click and Paste the new file into the same folder.
9.) Before launching the game, clear the game cache.

Thanks for the quick reply!

So what about renaming the files? Do I still have to do that? Also once I drag it into the installed world's folder, do I have to do anything to the original world or does this overwrite it?

You'll want to edit each of the file names to take out the [MTS_ellacharm3d_1235362_ ] part.

Leaving it to look like: Twinbrook.part01.rar (for example)

Backup the original Twinbrook, by editing it's .world file, making it look like: Twinbrook.world.original

Sorry it took me so long, but I finally got to try it and all seems to be working very nicely. Thanks so much!
